For many years I focused primarily on commissioned portraits. Essentially I paint from photograph's.

A photograph, even posed, is generally more dynamic and spontaneous than a physical pose whereby the model has sit still for hours on end. This in not very comfortable for most and almost impossible for children. Moreover, scheduling mutually convenient sessions, is often impossible.
In a portrait, one hopes to portray "that" singular and specific pose or expression. That preference is very personal. For this reason it is not I, but whoever commissions the portrait, who determines the expression. The result of this approach is inevitably successful and appreciated. I have an array of resources at my disposal to add my own vision and interpretation.

In principle, I personally do the photo shoot during an introductory meeting. However, should you already have a particular or special photograph you particularly wish to use, that too is fine, provided the photograph is of a good quality.
